Yamaha India has launched the FZ-X, a neo-retro commuter motorcycle based on the 149 cc Yamaha FZ series. The new Yamaha FZ-X is priced at Rs.116,800. (Ex-showroom). The Yamaha FZ-X gets some brand-new features, such as the Yamaha Connect app with smartphone connectivity, which is Bluetooth-enabled. The FZ-X comes in two variants, with the regular model costing Rs. 116,800 (ex-showroom) and the FZ-X with smartphone connectivity priced at Rs.119,800. (Ex-showroom). The Yamaha Connect App on the new FZ-X includes a long list of features, including incoming call alerts, SMS alerts on the instrument console, and other features on the app, such as parking location, battery charge indicator, fuel consumption and malfunction alerts, as well as service and oil change reminders.

The new Yamaha FZ-X will be available at Yamaha dealerships across the country with deliveries beginning in June 2021. The new FZ-X, unlike the naked street Yamaha FZ, has an upright riding position, a standard engine bash plate, LED headlamp with LED daytime running lights, and LED taillight. However, because the engine is the same 149 cc single-cylinder unit, it produces a maximum power output of 12.4 bhp at 7,250 rpm and peak torque of 13.3 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The frame is similar to that of the Yamaha FZ series. The Yamaha FZ-X has a kerb weight of 139 kg.

Speaking at the launch, Motofumo Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, said, “We stay committed to offer best of our products to the Indian two-wheeler audience and FZ-X is one step further in that direction. Today, we announce the launch of the all-new FZ-X, Yamaha’s first neo-retro offering for the Indian market that provides the perfect balance of practicality, durability, technology and style. It is introduced to cater to a larger group of customers that want to Ride Free and enjoy Yamaha’s leading technology, performance, and style, without compromising on the comfort required for daily commute. Going forward, we will continue to offer more such exciting products and experiences to our customers in India.”

A bi-functional LED headlamp with daytime running light (DRL), a newly designed negative LCD console with power outlet, and an LED taillight are among the other highlights. The bike is equipped with 17-inch wheels, side stand engine cut-off switch, Bosch single-channel ABS, and block pattern tubeless tyres. The Yamaha FZ-X is available in three colour options namely: Metallic Blue, Matt Copper, and Matt Black.

The Yamaha FZ-X has a neo-retro design language, and according to India Yamaha, there was consumer demand for a strong and tough 150 cc motorbike that could be used for both touring and city riding. The new Yamaha FZ-X, according to Yamaha, comes with a slew of features, including connectivity and premium features, that will likely make it an appealing alternative in the 150 cc segment.
