2022 Maruti Ertiga Facelift – What To Expect

Maruti Suzuki has teased officially their 2022 Ertiga facelift and has opened bookings for interested customers to purchase the car. It is expected that the 2022 Ertiga will be offered through Maruti’s Arena network of dealerships. We also know that this Ertiga facelift will be on sale prior to Maruti Nexa’s facelift XL6.

In the lead-up to launch, we’ll be bringing you all the improvements that are expected from the Ertiga.

Design

It is expected that the Ertiga facelift is expected to undergo minor changes in its exterior design. The teaser features a fresh grille, as well as a new style on the alloy wheel. The headlights are unchanged in the teaser images. But, Maruti could restyle the bumpers to distinguish the new Ertiga more clearly from the previous version. Other elements of the MPV are likely to stay the same.

Features

Due to the intense market competition for MPVs following the introduction of Kia Carens, Maruti is looking at expanding the range of top features available in the Ertiga to attract a larger number of buyers. Maruti has confirmed the fact that their new Ertiga will feature the latest SmartPlay Pro touchscreen infotainment system with telematics which was first seen on the 2022 Maruti Baleno. But this model will come in a smaller and measure at 7.0-inch as opposed to the 9.0-inch model in the Baleno.

Maruti may also offer the brand new Ertiga equipped with a 360-degree camera configuration. There will also be paddle shifters on the steering wheel on automated versions. The interior will likely remain identical. The Kia Carens are equipped with six airbags and we’re expecting the brand new Ertiga to have six airbags, at least in the top-spec versions.

Powertrain

The Ertiga facelift’s biggest improvement is underneath the bonnet. The new Ertiga will be powered by a brand new 1.5L 4 cylinder dual-jet regular petrol engine, and features mild-hybrid technology. The new engine will have two injectors for each cylinder. This does not just increase the power output, but it also helps improve the fuel economy. We anticipate this engine to deliver around 115PS of power. That’s a significant increase over the previous engine. Fuel efficiency will also improve due to the introduction of this new engine.

Gearbox

Another highlight of 2022’s Ertiga facelift is the brand new torque converter with six-speed automated transmission. This will be replacing the old school 4-speed TC and will include paddle shifters. This will improve the performance of Ertiga.

Price

With the addition of features like the new automatic transmission as well as dual-jet technology, we could expect an increase in cost. The current model of the Ertiga costs between Rs. 8.11 lakh and around Rs. 10.12 lakh for manual versions of the petrol. The automatic variants are priced at an additional cost of Rs. 1.20 lakh over the manual models. With all the above changes, we can expect Ertiga’s prices to increase by about Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000. The upgrade to an automatic transmission is estimated to cost about Rs. 1.5 lakh over the manual versions.

You can reserve the brand new Ertiga through a Maruti Arena dealer or through Maruti`s official website. The minimum amount required to book the 2022 Ertiga is Rs. 11,000. We anticipate the brand new Ertiga to be on sale before mid-April.

CNG Option In Top Variant

At the moment you can purchase the Ertiga with a CNG option but only with the middle-spec VXi trim. Maruti is now offering the possibility for CNG in the higher-end ZXi variant too. It will allow customers to purchase an MPV equipped with a factory-installed CNG kit. But, as with the previous model, you’ll get it with only a five-speed manual gearbox.
