Volkswagen has already unveiled the upcoming Made-in-India Taigun SUV and is now ready to launch the compact SUV in India. As per recent reports, the compact SUV can come with (ADAS) Advance Driver Assisted Technology.
Volkswagen gave a hint on the introduction of a lane-keep assist or adaptive cruise control. The brand revealed the interior images of the Taigun SUV during its unveiling. The images featured steering mounted control and a fully digital instrument cluster with an icon indicating a lane.
The speculations have become a reality as Volkswagen is offering Adaptive cruise control and driver-assisted features for the internationally sold T-Cross SUV as per reports. The upcoming Taigun SUV also shows a large resemblance to the T-Cross SUV.
This also implies that the Made-in-India Taigun may also borrow similar active safety features like the 6-airbags, ABS, 3 headrests at rear, 3-point seat belts, ISOFIX child seat anchorage, rear parking camera and electronic stability control.
The Taigun is the first model to come from VW’s staple under the Indian 2.0 strategy. The company has developed the model by taking inputs from the Indian engineers in such a way that it suits the Indian buyers. It will hit the markets with the modified MQB A0 IN platform and will be 95% localized.
Volkswagen is expected to offer a GT variant alongside the standard variant of the SUV. A variety of cosmetic upgrades will be made to the GT variant, like the red-brake callipers, contrast stitching on the interior and more.
Exterior features the Taigun is offering are the LED Matrix headlamp technology with integrated LED DRLs, LED taillamps, fog lamps, and a large light bar that runs across the boot lid length. It also comes with front and rear scuff plates, all-around body cladding, chrome-finished window line, 17-inch alloy wheels, a blacked-out roof along with silver-finished roof rails and a roof-mounted spoiler.
Moving inside, the compact SUV will have a centrally-mounted 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will support Android Auto, wireless smartphone connectivity such as Apple CarPlay, & the latest connected technology of the brand.
Some of the highlighting features of the Taigun SUV are a wireless charging pad climate control, ventilated front seats, and an electric sunroof, a fully digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, rear ac vents and cruise control.
The model will come in 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol TSI unit engine options. The 1.0-litre engine will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. On the other hand, the bigger 1.5-litre engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
The upcoming Taigun SUV can come with the ADAS, which is a segment-first feature in India. It is expected to compete against mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Renault Duster.
