With the demand for SUVs increasing by the day auto manufacturers are gearing up to launch new models in the country. SUV lovers will be pleased as there are plenty of SUV launches lined up for this year. To give our readers a heads-up on the upcoming SUVs in India in 2020-2021, DriveStreak has compiled the below list.

2020 Mahindra Thar

The first SUV in the list is the Mahindra Thar which will launch in August this year. The 2020 Thar will receive a comprehensive update with respect to its exterior styling and interior changes. The Thar is set to become more modern and luxurious with more features and Gizmos on board.
The all-new Mahindra Thar will be powered by a 140 hp 2.0 litre oil burner and a new 1.5 litre 163 hp petrol. Transmission options will include a manual and automatic gearbox. This is the first time in history the Thar will be available with an automatic transmission.
Kia Sonet

With the launch of the Seltos, Kia entered the Indian market with a big bang. Kia has sold 81,784 units of the Seltos SUV since its launch in August 2019. This is an amazing feat for a new auto manufacturer in India with its first product.
With its sporty design and distinct styling, the upcoming Kia Sonet could become the next top seller in the sub 4-metre SUV space. It will share its underpinnings with the Hyundai Venue and power-train options are likely to be shared. It will be launched in August 2020.
Tata HBX

The Tata HBX was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo and is based on the H2X concept showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. The HBX looks like a hatchback on steroids and will be available with a 1.2 litre petrol motor mated to a manual or AMT transmission. It will rival the likes of the Maruti Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100.
Tata Gravitas

The Tata Gravitas is based on the Tata`s flagship SUV the Harrier. It gets a slightly longer wheelbase and will be available with a six and seven-seater configuration. The front design of the Gravitas is similar to the Harrier, there are changes at the rear and sides to accommodate the additional row of seats.
As per reports it will be available with a 2.0 litre diesel engine producing 170 PS of power coupled to a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. A newly developed petrol engine will be plonked under the hood at a later date.
Renault Kiger

The Renault Kiger will be the French carmaker`s first shot at the sub 4-metre compact SUV space. It will be built on the Renault Triber`s CMF-A+ platform. Powering the Renault Kiger is an all new 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol motor which was showcased at the 2020 Auto expo.
Nissan Magnite

The Japanese auto giant will soon enter the highly competitive compact SUV segment with the launch of the Nissan Magnite. It will share its underpinnings and power-train with the Renault Kiger. The Magnite will be launched in India early next year.
Next-Gen Mahindra XUV500

The launch of the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 has been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. The updated model will be launched in 2021 with a completely new design. It will be available with two new engines – 2.0 litre diesel and 2.0 litre petrol.
