While until a few years ago, we had very minimal options for electric cars but now we have good options in the mass-market segment too. The Luxury EV car market is flourishing even faster with a ton of luxury electric cars on sale in India. A lot more is yet to come to India. So, in this article, we have shared a list of all the expected upcoming electric cars in India in 2022. This is the second part of the listicle that lists the upcoming luxury EVs in India. Volvo XC 40 Recharge

Expected Launch Date: March 2022

Expected Starting Price: Rs 50 lakh

Volvo Cars India is expected to launch its first-ever electric car in the country next month. The new Volvo XC 40 Recharge will be getting a 78 kWh battery pack that will offer a claimed driving range of around 418 km on a single charge. In addition, this luxury EV will get dual 150 kW electric motors, one on each axle, that puts out 402 PS of maximum power and 660 Nm of peak torque. The new Volvo XC 40 Recharge is expected to be priced from Rs 50 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

BMW i4

Expected Launch Date: July 2022

Expected Starting Price: Rs 80 lakh

BMW Group India will be launching three electric vehicles in India in a span of six months. While the new BMW iX electric SUV and the MINI Cooper SE electric hatchback have already been launched, the all-new BMW i4 electric sedan will be launched in India in July this year. It will get an 83.9kWh lithium-ion battery and while its RWD variant will offer a claimed range of 590 km on a single charge, the AWD version will deliver 510 km per charge. Its all-wheel-drive version churns out a blistering 544 PS of maximum power and 795 Nm of peak torque. The BMW i4 is expected to be priced in India from Rs 80 lakh, ex-showroom.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

Expected Launch Date: September 2022

Expected Starting Price: Rs 60 lakh

Next, we have the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Hyundai Motor India is currently evaluating its plans to launch the very popular Ioniq 5 in the country this year. The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV is expected to be launched in India by September this year. The Ioniq 5 gets a dual-motor setup and develops 306 PS of power and 605 Nm of peak torque. This EV gets a large 72.6kWh lithium-ion battery and is claimed to offer a driving range of 481 km on a single charge. It is expected to be priced around Rs 60 lakh, ex-showroom.

Mercedes-Benz EQS

Expected Launch Date: October 2022

Expected Starting Price: Rs 2.50 Crore

Finally, the last car on this list is the upcoming Mercedes Benz EQS. The new Mercedes-Benz EQS is one of the most luxurious EVs currently on sale in the world. Mercedes Benz India has already announced that the new EQS will be locally assembled in India. It will be launched by the end of this year. The Mercedes Benz EQS will get a 107.8kWh battery and offers a claimed range of up to 770 km on a single charge. In addition, it will develop 516 PS of power and 855 Nm of peak torque. The new Mercedes Benz EQS is expected to be priced in India from Rs 2.5 Crore, ex-showroom Delhi.

Special Mention: MINI Cooper SE 

Launch Date: February 2022

Starting Price: Rs 47.20 lakh

At last, we have a special mention too and it’s the new MINI Cooper SE. The new MINI Cooper SE electric hatchback has been recently launched in India and its first batch is already sold out in the country. The MINI Cooper SE gets a 32.6kWh lithium-ion battery and a claimed range of 240 kilometres on a single charge. The battery pack is coupled with an electric motor that churns out 184 PS of power and 270 Nm of peak torque. The new MINI Cooper SE is priced in India from Rs 47.20 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
