Triumph Motorcycles Reveals 2021 Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Edition

The 2021 Triumph Scrambler 1200 has been introduced by Triumph Motorcycles. The company paid homage to Steve McQueen-a legendary movie star, motorcycle stuntman and enthusiast by revealing the Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen edition of the iconic Triumph motorcycle. McQueen rode this motorcycle himself in the 1963 movie ‘The Great Escape’ and was called the ‘King of Cool’ for his on-screen persona and his stuntman-ship on motorcycles throughout his movie career.

The company has introduced this Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen edition model based on the Scrambler 1200 XE. The model features a new colour scheme that has a competition green fuel tank, brushed foil knee pads, gold lining, gold logos and a Steve McQueen graphic on the tank itself. The company also offers a Monza fuel-filler cap, a brushed stainless steel tank strap and engine protection dresser bars to add another layer of ruggedness. These dresser bars have an electro-polished finish, and their stainless steel tubing fabrication ensures an additional layer of protection to the clutch and alternator covers.

The 1200 Steve McQueen Edition comes with a premium brown bench seat having stitched ribbing and the company branding. Triumph Motorcycles have numbered each of the 1,000 McQueen Edition models available globally on the billet-machined handlebar clamp. It also has laser-etched Steve McQueen signatures on the handlebars.

The 2021 Scrambler 1200 now follows the Euro V emission norms and comes with a 1,200cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and produces a maximum power of 88 bhp at 7,250 rpm and 110 Nm peak torque at just 4,500 rpm.

In terms of electronics, the Scrambler 1200 is equipped with the latest generation of ride-by-wire technology. The model also has six riding modes: road, rain, sport, off-road, off-road pro (only on the XE variant) and a rider configurable mode. Apart from these, it comes with ABS, cornering ABS, cornering traction control and cruise control.

At the front, the bike has 250mm Ohlins twin spring rear shock absorbers and Showa USDs, which can be fully adjusted for pre-load, compression and rebound. 320 mm twin discs with Brembo M50 Radial monobloc callipers and a single disc are present at the bike’s front and the rear part, respectively. Moreover, the front part of the bike features a 21-inch wire-spoked wheel, while a 19-inch wheel wrapped in Metzeler Tourance dual-sport tyres is featured at the rear part.

Although Triumph Motorcycles has announced a 2021 update for the Triumph Scrambler 1200 in India, it is less likely that the Steve McQueen Edition motorcycles will hit the markets across the country.
