Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP launched – Diwali Dhamaka from Tata Motors

Tata Motors has finally launched the performance versions of the Tiago and Tigor in India. The Tiago JTP is tagged at Rs. 6.39 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi while the Tigor JTP is priced at Rs. 7.49 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.

Tata claims 0-100 kmph acceleration figures of 9.95 seconds for the Tiago JTP and 10.38 seconds for the Tigor JTP. Powering both the cars is a 1.2-liter turbocharged REVOTRON motor that does duty in the Nexon. The engine has been re-calibrated to provide more power and torque. The modifications have ensured a significant bump in power. The engine now produces 114 PS of peak power at 5,000 rpm and bangs out 150 Nm of peak torque between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual gearbox with revised gear ratios transmits all this power to the front wheels.

The performance versions will be sold through select Tata outlets in the following cities: Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kannur, Ernakulum/Cochin and Thrissur.

The performance cars are a result of a new partnership between Tata Motors and Jayem Engineering of Coimbatore. It is a 50:50 joint venture, a new performance sub-brand which will dish out punchier versions of regular variants of Tata cars.

Both the cars feature muti-drive modes (city & Sport). The ground clearance stands at 166 mm which is decent enough to handle city potholes and Indian road conditions. The suspension on the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP has been stiffened to handle the extra power and keep the cars glued to the ground at highway speeds.

Styling on the exterior comes with a few changes on the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP. Both the cars get Vented bonnet, new front grille design, contrast colored wing mirrors, new alloy wheels, new projector headlamps, side skirts, twin silencer pipes etc. These changes lift the visual appeal of the Tiago JTP and Tiago JTP.

Sporty bits are incorporated inside the cabin too. Key updates include – new seat fabric with contrast red stitching, all black dashboard, aluminum pedals, voice command and navigation support, aluminum pedals and an 8-speaker stereo on both the cars. Deliveries will begin from next month, and the booking amount is tagged at Rs. 11,000. The Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP will be available at select Tata dealerships across the country.
