Safety is becoming a very important factor for car makers these days. The Tata Nexon was earlier put to test by Global NCAP and received a 4-star rating. The company has however made certain modifications to the Nexon by including a seat belt reminder for front sear passengers for all the models. In the latest Global NCAP crash test the compact SUV scored a 5-star rating. The Nexon also cleared the side impact crash test meeting UN95 side-impact protection requirements.
The Nexon scored 16.06 points out of a total of 17, becoming the first Indian car to get a 5-star rating from Global NCAP. Tata will start producing the 5-star rated Nexon model from December 7, 2018. The car scored 3 stars for Child Occupant Protection and 5 stars for Adult Occupant Protection.
The compact SUV comes equipped with dual airbags at the front, ABS and EBD are standard across all variants. ISOFIX child mounts are offered only on the XZ+ trim. According to the crash test report published by Global NCAP the body of the Nexon was stable and is capable of withstanding further loadings.
The Nexon compact SUVis a popular choice among Indian customers. It is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and an AMT transmission. The Nexon rivals the likes of the Ford Ecosport and VitaraBrezza.
