Indian auto major Tata Motors has officially teased the Altroz turbo petrol. The teaser is a precursor to its launch which is scheduled on January 13, 2021.
The launch of the turbo variant of the Tata Altroz was long overdue as it is the most anticipated, as most of its rivals in the segment have a turbo petrol variant in their line-up.
Under the hood, the Altroz turbo will be powered by a 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol unit that churns out 108 HP and 140 Nm of peak torque. This engine will come mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The DCT is sourced from Punch Powertrain, and will use parts from Schaeffler India as well. Also available will be a 5-speed manual gearbox.
As seen in the teaser video the Altroz turbo petrol car comes in a new blue paint shade. Other than a few small cosmetic changes to differentiate it from the regular variant, there won’t be any major exterior changes.
There are chances that Tata will spruce up the interiors with some sporty elements like added chrome bits, aluminum pedals etc. We can confirm this only once the car is launched.
Now for the final talking point which is the price. Leaked reports show that the turbo petrol Altroz will be priced between Rs. 7.99 and Rs. 8.75 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Once launched it will rival the likes of the Volkswagen Polo TSI and the Hyundai i20 turbo petrol.
