Tata Harrier delivers a fuel economy of 16.7 km/l – Lesser than Creta and Compass

The ARAI claimed fuel economy figure of the Tata Harrier is 16.7 km/l. Its rivals the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta deliver a mileage of 17.1 km/l and 19.6 km/l respetively. The fact is that the Harrier is bigger in size and weighs more than the Creta and Compass, tiping the scales at 1680 kgs.

The Tata Harrier is based on the Land Rover Discovery Sport and is built on the Omega Arc platform. It is available in four variants – XE, XM, XT and XZ. The XT and XZ variants get 17-inch wheels. The top of the line XZ trim gets an 8.8 inch touch infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets leather upholstery, JBL audio system, automatic climate control and much more.

The Harrier sits below the Hexa in Tata`s line up. The SUV is powered by a 2.0 litre diesel engine sourced from Fiat. The engine pumps out 138 BHP of power and 350 Nm of twisting force. It is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The Tata Harrier directly competes with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Mahindra XUV500. Tata motors has gone for a very aggressive pricing strategy with the Harrier. The base variant of the Harrier is priced at Rs. 12.69 lakhs while the top-spec model is tagged at Rs. 16.25 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
