We haven’t seen a launch in the C-segment sedan category in a while in the Indian market. Czech carmaker Skoda plans to revive this segment with the launch of the Skoda Slavia. The automobile marque has launched the Slavia 1.0 L TSI variants in the country at a starting price of Rs. 10.69 lakhs, ex-showroom. The Slavia is the successor to the Rapid sedan and is the second model from the company to be based on the MQB-AO-IN platform.
To ensure that the Slavia is a success in the Indian market, Skoda has ensured all the ingredients and elements are added in the right proportion in the Slavia. The Slavia sedan is a pretty long car and measures 4541 mm in length, 1752 mm in width, 1507 in height and has a wheelbase of 2651mm.

Powering the new Skoda mid-sized sedan is a 1.0 TSI, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine developing 115 PS of Max power and 178 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The TSI engine has a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.47 kmpl and can sprint from 0-100 mph in just 10.7 seconds.
In terms of safety features and equipment the 1.0 TSI powered Skoda Slavia comes loaded with the latest equipment. It gets 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Differential System for enhanced traction under cornering, and Multi Collision Brake prevents potential follow-on collisions in case of an accident and brings the car to a halt in a gradual, safe manner.
It also gets features like parking sensors, automatic brake disc cleaning function, rear-view camera, tyre pressure monitoring, Hill-Hold Control, Cruise Control, auto headlamps and wipers. The car also features ISOFIX anchors and tether point anchors on the roof for child seats.
Additional creature comforts that are offered with the sedan include parking sensors, rear-view camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto headlamps and wipers, and cruise control.
To tackle Indian roads the Slavia comes with a ground clearance of 179 mm which is the best in its class. It also has a boot carrying capacity of 521 litres which can be expanded ro 1050 litres with the rear seats folded down.
The Slavia will be available in five colour choices namely – Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Carbon Steel, Crystal Blue (new), and Tornado Red, and will be offered in three variants – Active, Ambition and Style.

The icing on the cake is that Skoda is offering the 1.0 TSI variants of the Slavia with a 4-year/1 lakh km warranty as standard. There are also various other maintenance packages customer can opt for.
