Skoda Auto India Witnesses 200% Increase In January Sales

The Czech carmaker has announced a 200 percent increase in sales in January 2022 with 3,009 unit sales compared to 1,004 units sold in January 2021.

As part of the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India 2.0 project the company launched the Kushaq compact SUV in the Indian market last year. The rising demand for SUV body style cars and with the exit of Ford from the Indian market helped the Czech carmaker post robust sales.

As we have reported earlier, Skoda plans to launch the Slavia mid-sized sedan in India in March 2022. The company has started the production of the Skoda Slavia at its manufacturing plant in Pune. The car is built on the MQB-AO-IN platform which was created specifically for the Indian market. The first product based on the MQB-A0-IN platform for the company was the Kushaq which has received an overwhelming response from the Indian market.

Skoda kick-started the year 2022 on a good note with the launch of the Kodiaq facelift, which is priced from Rs. 34.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The launch follows the Czech brand`s triple-digit sales increase last year, as well as the rapid development of its dealer networks and consumer touch-points.

The Kodiaq SUV in offered in three trim levels and the SUV is available with 1 petrol engine option. The Petrol engine is 1984 cc unit developing 188 bhp of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It is available with Automatic transmission. Depending upon the variant and fuel type the Kodiaq offers a mileage of 12.78 kmpl and has a Ground clearance of 192 mm. The Kodiaq is a 7 seater 4-cylinder car and has length of 4699, width of 1882 and a wheelbase of 2791.
