MG Hector 7 seater launching in Jan 2021

British auto manufacturer MG Motor India today confirmed the launch of the MG Hector 7-seater SUV in the Indian market. The SUV will launch sometime in January 2021. The company also mentioned that they will be increasing prices of their entire line-up from Jan 1, 2021, due to rise in input costs. The new prices will be revealed by MG in Jan 2021. Auto brands like Hyundai, Maruti, Kia and Mahindra have also confirmed price hikes.

MG Hector Plus

MG launched the Hector SUV in the Indian market in 2019 and the SUV has become the best selling vehicle in its segment. Later on the MG Hector Plus a 6-seater was introduced with captain seats in the second row. MG is currently selling 3,000 units of hector per month. This is quite a good number considering the size of the SUV. With new launches expected in this segment in the coming months MG has been silently working on the 7-seater Hector to take on the upcoming Tata Gravitas and 2021 Mahindra XUV500.

Design wise the MG Hector 7-seater will feature subtle design changes. According to reports a test mule spotted recently wore a new grille when compared to the current model. Other changes noticed are the new 10-spoke alloys. Apart from this expect a few minor changes to the interiors.

On the mechanical front we don’t expect any changes. The current set of engines which include the 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, also available with a mild-hybrid system, and a 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine will continue to power the MG Hector 7-seater.

Prices for the new model will be slightly higher than the 6-seater variant. We`ll keep you updated on the launch details and pricing.
