MG Motor India has revealed the new MG Astor mid-size SUV in the country. The new MG Astor is the fifth product from MG in India after the Hector, Hector Plus, ZS EV and the MG Astor full-size SUV. MG Astor – What Is It?
The MG Astor is a new mid-size SUV from Morris Garages in the Indian market. It has been positioned below the MG Hector in the company’s India line-up. The MG Astor measures around 4.3 metres in length and dimensionally, it is a bit smaller than the MG Hector that measures around 4.6 metres in length. The MG Astor will directly rival the likes of the mid-size SUV segment leaders like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and also with the Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks, etc.
MG Astor – Exterior Design
The new MG Astor is based on the MG ZS Electric SUV and it looks almost identical to it. However, the company has made some subtle changes too. At the front, it gets a new hexagonal ‘Celestial’ grille with a revised bumper, new fog light housing and new headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). At the rear, it again sports a new bumper with faux dual exhausts and a faux skid plate that gives it a tough appeal. Moreover, the new MG Astor gets 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels that look very good and helps it to differentiate from the MG ZS EV.

MG Astor – Interior Features
The new MG Astor will be loaded with a host of features and also there will be three interior colour schemes on offer, which include a dual-tone Sangria red, dual-tone Iconic Ivory and Tuxedo black scheme. The MG Astor will get a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also gets MG’s iSmart 2.0 connected car features along with a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat, etc. Also, the biggest highlight of the new MG Astor is its Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) functions. It will get several active & passive safety features. The features of Level-2 ADAS include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Prevention and Speed Assist.
MG Astor – Engine Specifications
The all-new MG Astor will get a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that will be good for 110 PS of maximum power and 144 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an 8-speed CVT. The MG Astor will also get a BS6 compliant 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. It will develop 140 PS of maximum power and 220 Nm of peak torque. This powerful turbo petrol engine will be paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission only.

MG Astor – Launch Date and Price
The new MG Astor is expected to be launched in India by the end of September 2021 or by early October 2021. The new MG Astor is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakhs – Rs 18 lakhs, Ex-showroom Mumbai and it will rival the other mid-size SUVs which include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, and the likes.
