Mercedes-Benz Breaches 50 Million Vehicle Production Milestone

The 50-millionth car from Mercedes-Benz to launch in the global production network is the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class from Factory 56. Over the past 75 years, a total of 50 million vehicles of the Mercedes-Benz and smart brands have been rolled out. The global production network currently aims to implement the electric mobility offensive. Six new variants of Mercedes-EQ models is to be integrated in running series production operations by 2022.

The company`s ambitious sustainability targets majorly contribute to the global production network of Mercedes-Benz. Plants situated in three continents have a global battery production network that produce the batteries for the Mercedes-EQ EVs.

The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is the first 50 millionth vehicle to launch the production line at the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen plant. Factory 56 will produce the luxury sedan, the S-Class Sedan as well as the long version, along with the EQS in the future. The high-tech production facility which opened in September 2020 in the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen plant is the most modern automobile production facility of Mercedes-Benz.

Jorg Burzer, a member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz AG, Production and Supply Chain said, “Fifty million vehicles produced is a significant milestone in the history of our company, and exceptional achievement by the team. I would like to thank the colleagues in the plants around the world for their work and their commitment. Their expertise and passion in the production of our stars make the wishes of customers all over the world come true day after day.”
