India`s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki, launched the S-Cross in India in 2015. It received a comprehensive update in October 2017. The S-Cross sales figures crossed the 1 lakh mark making it the best-selling car in its segment.
Speaking about the latest achievement, Mr. R S Kalsi, SeniorExecutive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki said, “We arethankful to our customers for their love and positive response. S-Cross hasclocked over 16% market share in its segment and has helped us delightcustomers looking for a premium offering from Maruti Suzuki. We have created ahighly engaging ownership experience of the S-Cross by introducing many best insegment features which are further complimented by its bold design and premiuminteriors.”
The Maruti S-Cross is only available with a diesel engine. The fiat sourced 1.3 litre oil burner produces 89 bhp @ 8,000 rpm and 200 Nm oftwisting force @ 1,750 rpm. The S-Cross gets Maruti`s mild hybrid technology (SmartHybrid Vehicle System) – SHVS which is also seen in the Ciaz.
The Maruti S-Cross sells in decent numbers and clocks 4,000units per month. To increase the demand for the crossover Maruti shouldintroduce a petrol variant in its line-up. With diesel car sales losingmomentum in the national capital due to their polluting nature, Maruti shouldseriously think about the inclusion of a petrol model.
The Maruti S-Cross currently competes with the likes of the HyundaiCreta.
