Mahindra has officially revealed the images of its upcoming S201 compact SUV for the Indian market. The company has revealed the official name of the car and it will be called the XUV300. It is a sub-4-metre SUV, and it will directly rival the likes of the Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport.
The XUV300 is based on the SsangYong Tivoli. It sits on a monocoque chassis and shares many bits and components with the Tivoli. The compact SUV has been styled differently by Mahindra to make it more appealing to Indian tastes. From the pictures it is quite evident that some design elements have been borrowed from the XUV500. The Mahindra XUV300 is by far the best-looking Mahindra vehicle till date.
The XUV300 is packed with a host of safety and creature comforts like seven airbags, cruise control, ABS, dual zone climate control, auto dimming IRVM, LED DRLs, projector headlamps, touch screen infotainment system, ISOFIX mounts, reverse parking sensors, speed sensing alerts and much more.
The Mahindra XUV300 will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. Mahindra hasn’t disclosed the engine specifications but has hinted that it will be the most power car in its segment. It is quite possible that the XUV300 will get the same diesel engine that is under the hood of the Marazzo. This engine develops 12 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque and comes paired to a six-speed manual transmission.
The XUV300 will be launched in Feb 2019 and prices for the compact SUV are expected to start from Rs. 8 lacs onwards.
