Mahindra Alturas launched in India at Rs. 26.95 lakh, cheaper than Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner

Mahindra has finally launched the Alturas G4 in India with a price tag of Rs. 26.95 lakhs. The flagship Mahindra SUV is a second generation Rexton under the skin. Mahindra has tweaked the exteriors a bit to suit the tastes of the Indian consumers. The Mahindra Alturas G4 comes in tow variants – 2WD and a top of the line 4WD variant which is priced at Rs. 29.95 lakhs (ex-showroom).

On tape the Mahindra Alturas G4 measures 4850 mm in length, 1960 mm in width, 1825 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2865 mm. It has a ground clearance of 244 mm. The SUV sits on a ladder-frame chassis and has large proportions and solid road presence.

Under the hood the Alturas G4 is powered by a 2.2-liter oil burner develops by SsangYong which produces 180.5 HP @4000rpm and 420 Nm of twisting force in between @1600 – 2600 rpm. The engine is paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission sourced from German carmaker Mercedes. The SUV also gets a four-wheel drive system which can be activated on-the-fly.

The top-sec Alturas G4 is loaded to the gills with creature comforts. It features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, nappa leather seats, sunroof, electronic parking brake, 360-degree camera, two zone climate control, 7-inch information display system, HID headlights with LED DRLs and powered tailgate, ventilated front seats, and memory function for the driver`s seat.

The Alturas G4 is priced higher than the outgoing Rexton model but is cheaper when compared to its prime competitors, the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The Toyota Fortuner costs Rs.32.97 lakhs while the Ford Endeavour costs Rs. 32.81 lakhs for the four-wheel drive variants. The Mahindra Alturas with its feature loaded interiors and pricing when compared to its rivals makes it a better value for money proposition.
