The LS has a special role in the Lexus brand. LS has been the flagship sedan since the brand was launched back in 1989. The fifth generation of LS was launched in 2018. Using the new Lexus GA-L platform, the dynamic performance has been transformed to launch a new variant called Nishijin variant of Lexus LS 500h.
Brave design, Takmuni craftsmanship, imaginative technology and exhilarating performance have been added in a more advanced manner to the new Lexus LS 500h Nishijin variant. The new model has been introduced with a revolutionary multi-stage hybrid system which brings a more enhanced experience to the driver delivering great performance. The safety levels have been raised with the new Lexus safety system +A. This includes a world-first steering assist function in the Pre-collision system.
While the LS 500h Nishijin variant will cost Rs. 2.2 crores, the standard LS 500h will not be discontinued and will be available at a price of 1.91 crores across showrooms in India. The infotainment system is a built-in 12.3 inch touchscreen unit. Lexus has finally decided to introduce Apple CarPlay and also the Android Auto connectivity to this new model. The sound system is highly enriched with the presence of a 3D surround system having a 23-speaker Mark Levinson QLI. The texture and colour of the Nishijin variant have also been kept in mind giving the Gin-ei Luster silver colour scheme.
The interior has been designed that is rich in hand crafted detail. The newly designed variant with additional features and upgrades will rival the likes of Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 L, BMW 7 Series.
Lexus LS 500h Nishijin variant is equipped with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine comprising 2 electric motors. The hybrid powertrain delivers a combined output of 354 bhp. The unit is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The new model has been given the additional focus on further refinement. Driving quality, performance, technical excellence, ride comfort, functionality, connectivity and design appeal have all been upgraded in the new Nishijin variant. Thus Lexus LS 500h new variant is the face of the luxury Lexus sedan.
The tyres and suspension have undergone few changes compared to the previous model of Lexus. The tyre side-walls are less stiff and the adaptive variable suspension has been re-engineered so the dampers perform even better on rough surfaces.
The focus for performance improvements in the LS 500h Nishijin variant is the multi stage hybrid system. The interiors carry an ornamentation of ‘Nishijin and Haku’ which draws inspiration from the “path of moonlight on the sea”. This rarely occurring geographical phenomenon has been kept in mind while designing the theme. Keeping this in mind, the metal foil is made of platinum representing Haku and the cabin has been redesigned with silver woven threads belonging to Nishijin brocade.
