The new generation Defender was introduced in 2019 and since then, Land Rover has sold a significant number of new generation Defenders. Land Rover’s latest Defender is built on the stiffest chassis it has ever produced, and it combines hardcore offroading capability with modern gadgetry. During the last two years, Land Rover has added new powertrain options to its latest Defender lineup, including a V8-powered model that was revealed in February of this year. A new Defender V8 model is rumoured to be on the way from Land Rover. This new V8 Defender will be developed by its SVR division, making it the most performance-oriented Defender ever created by that company. Mercedes-AMG G63, the high-performance SUV version of the G-Class, will be a direct competitor when it is launched.
The upcoming Defender will have a new V8 engine. This V8 engine is expected to produce around 600 horsepower, according to some reports. The current Land Rover Defender V8 has a supercharged V8 engine which produces 518 horsepower and 625 Nm of torque. Although the Defender can reach 100 kph in 5.2 seconds, the SVR model will make this sprint even faster.
According to reports, Land Rover Defender SVR will be equipped with an automatic transmission from ZF and stiffer suspension and larger brakes. There will also be some cosmetic updates to the SUV, of course. According to rumours, the new Defender SVR is set to debut next year and will be priced substantially higher than the current Defender V8.
