KTM RC 125 to launch in India in June last week, colour scheme leaked

KTM India will launch its most affordable fully faired bike – the RC 125 in the last week of June 2019. Meanwhile, deliveries will begin from next month. The RC 125 will borrow its design from the elder RC siblings, while the mechanicals will be similar to what we have seen on the 125 Duke. Once launched, the RC 125 will become the more affordable bike in the KTM RC range in India, below the RC 200 and RC 390.

The KTM RC 125 has already been on sale in a few international markets for quite a few months. However, the India-spec model will get a few changes to suit the local customer interests. For instance, the model we get will come with an under-belly exhaust, rather than the side mounted unit seen on the International models. Other changes include a secondary mud guard along with a mandatory saree guard at the rear.

The India-spec model will continue to adorn the same body structure that is seen on other RC bikes. This includes the dual headlamps at the front, LED DRL in the middle, chiseled fuel tank, and a tall rear end. According to a media report, the RC 125 will come with a new black and orange colour scheme.

Mechanically, the RC 125 is expected to be identical to the 125 Duke. It will thus come with the same 124.7cc, single-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled motor that produces 14.5hp and 12Nm of torque. Suspension setup will include upside down (USD) forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes at the front as well as rear, which will be complemented by a single-channel ABS unit.

KTM had earlier launched the 125 Duke in India at an introductory price of Rs. 1.18 lakh. However, it now costs Rs. 1.30 lakh, after a couple of price hikes. If KTM follows the same pricing strategy that it has in the past with the other two Duke – RC siblings, the RC 125 will be priced in India at around Rs. 1.60 lakh. However, the bike’s direct competitor – the Yamaha R15 V3.0 is currently pegged at Rs. 1.39 lakh. As a result, we might see a shocker from the Austrian manufacturer by launching the RC 125 at a much more aggressive price tag.
