Korean carmaker Kia has entered the highly competitive compact SUV segment with the Sonet. This is the third product addition to the company`s line-up in India. Kia currently sells the Seltos and Carnival MPV in India. The all-new Sonet made its global debut on August 7, and has received a positive response. The car received 6,523 bookings on the first day of the start of bookings. The Sonet has won the hearts of consumers not only with its bold design language, impressive mileage and feature list but also its eye catchy colour options.

The Steel Silver and Glacier White are the most popular colour choices among Sonet customers. In fact, White is an extremely popular colour and a favorite among car buyers in general.
The Sonet is available in two trims – Tech Line and GT Line. While the Tech Line gets five variants, the GT Line gets only one variant. The top trims are packed with features such as LED headlights with LED DRLs, projector fog lamps, LED tail lights, ventilated front passenger and driver seats, automatic climate control, sunroof, 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system, smart pure air purifier and much more.
Under the hood the Kia Sonet gets three engine options – 1.2 litre petrol, 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5 litre diesel power-train. The 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol motor generates 83 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque coupled to a 5-speed MT. The 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol unit pumps out 120 PS of max power and 172 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT. The 1.5 litre CRDi oil burner develops 100 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque with a 6-speed MT. The 6-speed AT variant produces 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque.
The Kia Sonet is priced between Rs. 6.79 – 13.19 Lakhs(ex-showroom). The Korean compact SUV rivals the likes of the Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport, Mahindra XUV300 and the Tata Nexon.
