Kia Carens Bookings In India Surpass 50,000 Mark

Kia India has announced that bookings for the Carens have surpassed 50,000 mark. Notably, the company has reached this milestone in less than two months, having opened the booking on January 14, 2022. The vehicle has struck a chord with modern Indian families across the country, with approximately 60% of bookings coming from Tier 1 and 2 cities. Customers have preferred the Luxury and Luxury Plus variants, which account for 45 percent of all bookings.

The demand for the Carens’ petrol and diesel variants is balanced, with roughly half of customers preferring the diesel variants. Furthermore, the demand for the vehicle’s automatic variant attracted nearly 30% of the customers. Despite a semiconductor shortage, the company sold 5,300 units of the Carens in just 13 days after its launch last month, indicating an overwhelming demand for the vehicle.

Myung-Sik Sohn, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, commented on this achievement, saying, “This response for the Carens has created a never before excitement in the family mover segment, and it matches the excitement that our other SUVs have generated, and it is very encouraging.”

“The Indian automotive industry is going through a difficult phase as we face an acute shortage of semiconductors, hampering our production and thus the supply to the market,” he added. However, we anticipate that the chip shortage will begin to improve in the second quarter. To reduce the time it takes to deliver our vehicles, we have begun the third shift at our Anantapur manufacturing facility in March 2022. We are proud that our customers’ trust has not wavered in the face of adversity, allowing us to carve a niche in the Indian automotive market. We assure our customers that we are working with our suppliers and partners around the clock to reduce the wait time for the Carens and other models.”

The Kia Carens combines the sophistication of a family car with the sportiness of an SUV. Carens provides superior quality, exceptional value, and a distinct style in its class. It is also the first vehicle in its class to come standard with six airbags and a slew of active and passive safety features as part of the Robust 10 Hi-Safety package.
