Jeep India has named its most anticipated offering for the Indian market, a 7-seater SUV, the Jeep Meridian. The name was carefully chosen to appeal to the customer’s sensibilities while keeping in mind the model’s relevance and importance in the Indian market. The Jeep Meridian embodies the Jeep brand’s core DNA, an innate desire to travel and embark on new adventures.

The first step for Jeep was naming the vehicle. A total of 70 different names, including a few global Jeep names, were considered. However, for an SUV that is entirely ‘Made in India,’ a name with strong market relevance and resonance was required. The name is derived from a line that runs the length of India, connecting some of the most beautiful states and cultures.
The ‘Made in India’ Jeep Meridian will be the country’s first 7-seater SUV, fulfilling an important commitment to the Indian market. The Jeep Meridian will be a refined, sophisticated vehicle with class-leading performance and unrivalled capability.
The Jeep Meridian, true to its name, was camouflaged in a unique and innovative design, capturing some of the most recognisable icons and cultures of the states that lie on the Meridian-77 that runs the length of India. Among these are the famous India Gate in Delhi, the camel of Rajasthan, the tiger of Madhya Pradesh, the Maharashtra flag, the elephant of Karnataka, and the coconut tree of Kerala.

The Jeep Meridian traversed Ladakh, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, New Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, gracefully navigating the most difficult topographical challenges. The Jeep Meridian travelled over 5,000 kilometres across India, testing its performance on various parameters of build quality, engineering, and capability.
The Jeep Meridian is a true SUV that customers can now look forward to driving with zeal, excitement, and confidence. The Jeep Meridian will deliver on everything that is truly Jeep, a product that combines sophistication with the heart of an adventure-seeking persona.
Jeep Meridian will be available in India in mid-2022, with local specifications and pricing to be announced closer to the launch.
