Hyundai Motor India has launched a new Sports Edition of its popular Creta crossover SUV. This new limited edition version is only available with manual gearbox variants. The 1.6-litre petrol MT variant has been priced at Rs. 12.78 lakh, while the 1.6-litre diesel MT variant is pegged at Rs. 14.13 lakh. The Hyundai Creta Sports Edition can be opted for only in two colour schemes – Phantom Black, and Polar White with a contrasting Phantom Black roof. The dual tone paint scheme is costlier by Rs. 11,000, as compared to the single tone black model. All prices mentioned here are ex-showroom, Mumbai. This launch of the Hyundai Creta Sports Edition appears to be Hyundai’s attempt to save the Creta from continuous attacks from recent launches like the Tata Harrier and MG Hector. With the new model, Hyundai has added a few cosmetic and functional updates to the Creta to make it look fresh, while also ensuring that it is heavily loaded with features.
On the outside, the Creta Sports Edition comes with smoked projector headlamps, a dark chrome finish on the front grille, silver roof rails and skid plate, faux dual tip exhaust with chrome detailing, black ORVM caps, and a rear spoiler. Meanwhile, the interiors get an all-black treatment with the seats too wrapped in black fabric. The steering gets a leather wrap, while other features on offer include an electric sunroof and contrast stitching on seats, gear knob and steering wheel.
The Creta Sports Edition is based on the SX trim. It thus comes with automatic climate control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control and wireless smartphone charging. Occupant safety is taken care of by dual airbags, ABS and EBD.
Thanks to the aforementioned additions, the Creta Sports Edition is costlier by Rs. 54,000 to Rs. 60,000, as compared to the regular Creta SX variants.
