Kia Sonet off-road Spec Rendered, Gets some added Muscle

Kia Sonet off-road spec rendered by DriveStreak, lends the upcoming compact SUV some added muscle.

The kia Sonet needs no introduction. News of the kia Sonet launch date, mileage figures, first drive reviews etc are all over the internet. It is the third product which will be launched by Kia in the Indian market. Considering the hype for the Sonet which will be launched on September 18th, DriveStreak has imagined the compact SUV in an off-road spec.

Kia Sonet Off-road Spec

I`m sure Kia Sonet fanboys would love the hardcore off-road variant. Up front the off-road modifications include a revised bumper with twin fog lamps setup, revised and beefier bumper, front skid plate and BF Good Rich tyres. The sides feature additional body cladding and padding on the sides to give it a beefier look. The render is based on the GT Line trim, so it gets all the bells and whistles inside the cabin.

Our in-house illustrator has given the off-road version a chocolate brown colour with grey cladding all-around. The Kia Sonet rides taller than the regular version with BF Goodrich tyres wrapped around dark grey alloy wheels with red brake calipers.

The stock model is available in two trim levels – Tech Line and GT Line. Engine options include two petrol engines and one diesel. There are five transmission choices on offer – 5-speed MT, 6-speed MT, 6-speed iMT, 6-speed AT and 7-speed DCT.

The 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol mill produces 85 PS of max power and 115 Nm of twisting force mated to a 5-speed MT. The 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol unit generates 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCT transmissions. The 1.5 litre CRDi diesel motor pumps out 100 PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque coupled to a 6-speed AT.

The Kia Sonet will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon, Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Toyota Urban Cruiser.

What do you think about the Kia Sonet off-road version? Would you want Kia to launch an off-road variant with a 4-wheel drive system in the near future. Share your thoughts by using the comments section below.
