This year, Citroen is all set to enter the Indian market. Prior to its launch, the French carmaker announced that the brand’s first model, the C5 Aircross, will be launched in India on 1 February 2021.
The Citroen C5 Aircross, the brand’s first model, will be positioned as a mid-size premium SUV offering. The C5 Aircross will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, Volkswagen T-Roc and the Skoda Karoq once launched in India. In the same price segment as its competitors, Citroen is expected to price the C5 Aircross at around the Rs 25 lakh mark, ex-showroom.
Initially, the French carmaker was expected to enter the Indian market in 2020. However, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdown, the project was postponed. The SUV has been spied on many occasions in India, with an Indian debut date finally confirmed.
The Citroen C5 Aircross will be packed with a host of features, equipment and connected technology and will be positioned as a premium product. It will be offered in multiple trim levels, and the SUV will also be sold, with a host of convenience and safety features.
LED headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lights, panoramic sunroof, sleek alloy wheels, roof rails, large digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, steering controls, multiple airbags and a host of others are some of these features.
The engine and transmission options for the India-Spec variant of the C5 Aircross are yet to be revealed by Citroen. A 2.0-liter diesel unit churning out 177bhp and 400Nm of peak torque, coupled with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, is available in the European-spec SUV. We expect the same powertrain to make its way to the C5 Aircross’s Indian version as well.
