The Citroen C3 was earlier code-named as the CC21 and it is based on the company’s Common Modular Platform (CMP). The Citroen C3 is the first model to be produced under Citroen’s C-Cubed programme for the Indian market.
Exteriors – The new Citroen C3 is a compact SUV but the company isn’t calling it that. This car has been described by Citroen’s CEO – Vincent Cobee as a “hatchback with a twist”. The reason for this naming is that a proper compact SUV which might be called as the Citroen C3 Aircross is in Citroen’s India product pipeline, and is expected to follow the C3. At the front, the C3 gets a large grille with Citroen’s signature grille, funky inserts and not one or two but four LED DRLs. The side profile of the SUV gets machined-cut alloy wheels, roof rails and at the rear, it features a LED tail lamp and Citroen’s badge.
Interiors – The new Citroen C3’s funky design theme continues on the inside as well with a bright orange panel running across the length of the dashboard. Taking the centre stage on the dashboard is a massive 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will feature Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It will also get voice recognition but an electric sunroof won’t be on offer. The all-new Citroen C3 has a nifty smartphone holder beside its touchscreen unit. Just like the swanky exterior, the colour of the dashboard panel, seat fabrics can also be customized. It also gets a digital instrument cluster, unique AC vents, etc.
Engine Options – The all-new Citroen C3 is based on the CMP modular platform that will underpin some other Groupe PSA vehicles too, including a sub-four-meter compact SUV from its sister brand, Jeep. The new Citroen C3 will draw power from a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine in India. The exact power and torque figures of the new C3 has not been revealed yet. The engine will be mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. There won’t be any diesel engine on offer.
Price, Launch Date and Competitors – The new Citroen C3 will be launched in India by the first quarter of 2022. The SUV is expected to be priced from Rs 6 lakhs and might go up to max. Rs 12 lakh.
