Volvo has introduced the 2021 S60 in the domestic market at a price tag of Rs. 45.90 lakhs. By mid-march, the Swedish auto-maker will start deliveries of this cool looking luxury sedan. Online bookings are ongoing. As an added attraction, the company will be offering complimentary membership of the ‘Tre Kronor Experience’ program, thereby rewarding early birds. The luxury sedan will be contending against heavyweights such as the Mercedes Benz C Class, the Audi A 4 facelift, and the BMW 3 series.
In a statement issued by the office of the Managing Director, Volvo Car India, it is stressed that the Volvo line has above-par safety innovation features that make the roads accident-free. The company is confident this will be seen as Volvo’s extraordinary privilege to keep helping drivers and road-commuters. The new S60 is if the company is to be believed, especially safe.
The automaker’s very own Scalable Product Architecture platform has provided the basis for the new luxury sedan. The S60, therefore, flaunts the Euro NCAP 5 –star rating. In common with the XC60 and the very best 90 series cars, the new Volvo luxury sedan boasts the best infotainment system.
The car promises excellent acceleration, the 8-speed automatic gearbox coupled to a 2-liter petrol engine. There’s a hybrid engine variant as well. It would have helped the car’s prospects if there were a diesel alternative. At 187 bhp the car powers along, torque clocking 300 Nm at its peak. Perhaps the company could, however, mull the incorporation of an even more versatile engine for the next avatar.
“As a brand, we have saved more than 1 million lives through our safety innovations and we are committed to help saving the next million. The new S60 is one of the safest sedans today and surely helps us save more lives,” Charles Frump, Managing Director – Volvo Car India, said.
With a couple of mitigation and city safety assists, the seven airbags provide sufficient confidence against the unforeseeable. A unique auto brake tech secures the driver against sudden accidents. Unique to this sedan is the capability to detect cyclists, pedestrians as well as animals on the street. A full Apple-compatibility and masterful synchronicity with Android Auto makes the 9 inch Sensus touch screen a feast for the senses.
