BMW introduced their new M340i sedan in the Indian market and the model becomes the range-topping variant in the 3 Series lineup of the brand. It was introduced in the Indian market on March 10, 2021, at a price of Rs. 62.90 lakh, ex-showroom (Pan-India).
As per recent reports, the BMW M340i has been sold out in a single day in India and the German carmaker is now adding customers to a waiting list, with the additional booking details and deliveries to be announced soon.
BMW’s first locally-assembled ‘M’ car, M340i xDrive is also the fastest locally assembled car in India. The model is positioned between the standard 3 Series range on offer and soon-to-launch full-blown M3 model.
The sporty car features an M-specific chassis tuning along with an M Sport rear differential and comes with the brand’s standard all-wheel-drive (xDrive) system. It is powered by a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder Twin-Turbo petrol engine which produces a maximum power of 387bhp at 5800rpm and a peak torque of 500Nm between 1800 – 5000rpm. It has a 250 km/hr electronically-limited top speed and takes 4.4s to accelerate from 0-100km/hr. It is mated to a standard 8-speed Steptronic transmission unit.
The BMW M340i model is equipped with standard LED Laserlights, 3D LED taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels and an M rear spoiler. The interior portion of the M340i cabin features a fully-digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay as well as an Android Auto and heads-up display.
The BMW M340i faces competition from the likes of the Mercedes-AMG C43 and the upcoming Audi S5 Sportback after getting an impressive response from the Indian customers.
