
BMW has launched the new 220i Sport sedan in India at a price of Rs 37.90 lakh. The newly launched variant has currently become the entry-level offering in the 2-Series Gran Coupe line-up of the brand.
The new BMW 220i Sport has a twin-turbo 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine which produces 188bhp maximum power and 280Nm peak torque between 1350rpm and 4600rpm. The engine is paired with a seven-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission and takes just 7.1 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph.
The 220i Sport is equipped with electronic driver aids and multiple drive modes like the Eco and Pro mode in Driving Experience Control. The model comes with front-wheel-drive architecture with a transversely placed engine that saves space without compromising the dynamics of driving.
The sporty exterior design has four frameless doors, full-LED headlights, the brand’s signature kidney grille, LED taillights, and a grey-finished 10-spoke alloy wheel.
The customers can buy the model in four colours: Alpine White, Black Sapphite, Melbourne Red, and Storm Bay and have the choice to select from two upholstery options like the Sensatec Oyster Black and Sensatec Black.
Inside the cabin the 220i Sport has sport seats for driver and front passenger, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, 5.1-inch digital instrument cluster with BMW Live Cockpit Plus technology. It also has an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The BMW 220i features six airbags, (ABS) with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) as safety net along with its Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and auto-hold electric parking brake.
BMW customers will now receive tailor-made financial services from the company. The company is aiming to cut its ownership costs by offering multiple service packages that cover Condition Based Service (CBS) and maintenance work having plans from 3 yrs / 40,000kms to 10 yrs / 2,00,000kms.

The BMW 220i Sport is the brand’s entry-level sedan and will compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine and the upcoming Audi A3 in India.
