BMW Group India sells 6,604 cars in 2020

In 2020, 6,604 units of BMW and MINI cars were delivered by BMW Group India. Sales of 6,092 units were reported by BMW India and 512 units by MINI India. 2,563 motorcycles were sold by BMW Motorrad.


More than 50 percent of BMW India’s significant contribution comes from the locally developed Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) series, including the BMW X1, the BMW X3 and the BMW X5. In all regions, the newly released BMW X7 experienced astounding demand. The BMW 3 Series and the BMW 5 Series have continued their usual role in the sedan segment as strong contributors.

We registered strong results at the end of a very difficult year and propelled our segment share significantly in the Indian luxury car market. We are looking towards 2021 with renewed confidence and optimism.”

Despite the challenging industry scenario, MINI India has successfully increased its market share in the luxury car segment. In the last quarter of the year, the brand posted exceptional performance and development. A sales share of over 40 percent was commanded by the locally produced MINI Countryman. Over 23 per cent each contributed to the iconic MINI Hatch and the famous MINI Convertible.

BMW Motorrad India has overcome all barriers and reported stellar annual growth against current trends in 2020. The introduction of the new BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS propelled this success. The two motorcycles together commanded an annual market share of over 80 percent. The BMW R 1250 GS / GSA, the BMW F 750 / 850 GS and the BMW S 1000 RR were also significant contributors to their role.
