Jeep India is gearing up to launch the all-new Jeep Meridian full-size 7-seater SUV in the Indian market. The new Jeep Meridian will be this American carmaker’s second launch in India for the calendar year 2022 after the recently introduced Jeep Compass Trailhawk. However, the road ahead is not going to be easy for the Meridian as it will directly rival the segment leader, Toyota Fortuner. 2022 Jeep Meridian vs Toyota Fortuner – Looks, Design and Colours
The all-new 2022 Jeep Meridian shares design elements with the Jeep Compass. In fact, the Meridian is a longer 7-seater version of the Compass but with a bunch of new features and styling elements. It will be offered in a bunch of colour shades but the details aren’t known yet. Toyota Fortuner, on the other hand, is a proper full-size SUV with a muscular appeal. It is offered in 9 different colours. They are – Sparkling Black Crystal Shine, Phantom Brown, Super White, Attitude Black, Avant-Garde Bronze, Grey Metallic, White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic, and White Pearl Crystal Shine with Black Roof.

The new Jeep Meridian is powered by a 2.0 L, 4-cyl, turbocharged diesel engine. This motor pumps out 170 PS of max power and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 9-speed AT. Toyota Fortuner gets a 2.8 L, 4-cyl, turbocharged diesel engine. This mill pumps out 204 PS of max power and 500 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT. The Toyota Fortuner gets a 2.7 L petrol engine as well with lower power and torque figures and the same transmissions. Toyota Fortuner Diesel and the Jeep Meridian get a 4X4 or AWD system as well.

The new Jeep Meridian measures 4769 mm in length, 1859 mm in width and 1682 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2794 mm and the ground clearance of the SUV stands at 214 mm. Toyota Fortuner, on the other hand, measures 4795 mm in length, 1855 mm in width and 1835 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2745 mm and the ground clearance of the SUV stands at 220 mm.
2022 Jeep Meridian vs Toyota Fortuner – Price and Rivals
The new 2022 Jeep Meridian will be launched in the coming days and it is expected to be priced from Rs 33 lakh and go up to Rs 40 lakh, ex-showroom. Toyota Fortuner, on the other hand, is currently priced at Rs 31.79 lakh for the base model and goes up to Rs 44.63 lakh for the top variant, ex-showroom Delhi. Both these SUVs will rival the MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, etc.
