2021 MG Hector facelift Spotted at Dealership ahead of launch

The facelifted version of the Hector SUV will be launched in the Indian market this month by MG Motor India. The Hector facelift was spotted in an undisguised avatar at a dealership well before its launch, revealing crucial exterior and interior details. The facelifted model was also caught on camera last month while shooting for a TV advert. A new grille, new alloy wheels and new interior will be offered on the 2021 MG Hector facelift. There won’t be any mechanical changes under the hood.

Mechanically, the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol, 1.5-litre mild-hybrid, and fiat-sourced 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engines will power the new MG Hector facelift. The 141 bhp and 250 Nm torque of the petrol and mild-hybrid versions are combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional DCT automatic transmission (mild-hybrid only). On the other hand, compared to a peak torque of 350 Nm, the diesel version produces a maximum output of 168 bhp and comes standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The Hector facelift will sport aesthetic changes on the outside, including the chrome-stud pattern of the ZS EV inspired grille. A set of new twin-5-spoke alloy wheels will also come with it. We will not see any updates to the profile, and the headlamps and the design of the bumper will also remain unchanged. The rear section of the SUV will, however, see slight changes. A new black insert is swapped with the red reflective stripe linking two tail lamps. Other than these changes, everything else would be identical to the outgoing car.

Also, the leaked SUV photos give us a glimpse of Hector’s cabin. Unlike the current iteration, instead of an all-black paint scheme, the facelifted Hector will get an all-new dual-tone beige and black interior. Notably, the overall design and layout will be unchanged. The SUV will get Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the i-Smart connected car system. It is expected that additional security features and other creature comforts on the SUV will remain unaffected.
