India`s leading automaker Maruti Suzuki recently launched the 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio in the country. The company is now planning to introduce the CNG variant of the hatchback in the Indian car market. The previous generation Celerio was also available with a CNG option and it had quite a few takers.
The newly launched Maruti Suzuki Celerio is powered by a new 1.0 litre 3-cylinder Dual-Jet-VVT petrol motor that generates 68 PS of max power and 89 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT. The manual variant has a claimed mileage of 24.97 kmpl while the AMT variant delivers 26.68 kmpl.
“There are no challenges as such to integrate CNG in the new engine with two injectors per cylinder. It will be seamlessly integrated and the new Celerio CNG will be introduced in the next few weeks,” Maruti Suzuki India Chief Technology Officer CV Raman told Autocar Professional.
The new Maruti Celerio features a new design language and gets a new signature front grille, sweeping front headlights, new taillights, electrically adjustable ORVMs and 15-inch alloy wheels. The hatch back is feature packed with equipment list that comprises a new 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel with audio controls, height-adjustable driver seat, engine push start with smart key, pollen type AC filter, tilt steering, 60:40 split rear seats. The AMT variants get a new gear shift lever which features a light ergonomic grip.
The 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio is priced from Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 6.94 lakh )ex-showroom, New Delhi). The hatchback is available in 4 variants namely – LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+
