Jaguar Land Rover has launched the Defender 90 SUV in India, at a starting price of Rs. 76.57 lakh ex-showroom. In October of 2020, the Defender 110 was introduced at a price of 73.98 lakh, and the business claims it has received a positive reception.
Defender 90 is available in seven different variants namely – Standard, S, SE, HSE, First Edition, X-Dynamic (in S, SE and HSE forms) and X. The main difference between Defender 90 and Defender 110 is the size. The former is a two-door model that is notably shorter than the latter. Despite this, the Defender 90 has a six-seat configuration thanks to a unique front centre jump seat.
The Defender 90 comes with three different powerplant options. These include a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 296 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, a 3.0-litre petrol engine with 394 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, and a 3.0-litre diesel engine with 296 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque.
The newest Defender is said to be the toughest ever built, but it also includes a wide range of technology for improved driving, safety, and convenience. One of the most notable of them is a changeable Terrain Response 2 system, which allows the driver to tailor the vehicle’s setup to the terrain ahead.
With the Defender, Land Rover is now providing four accessory packs: Explorer, Adventure, Country, and Urban. Similar to the Defender 110, Jaguar Land Rover anticipates a positive response in India for the two-door Defender.
“Demand for the Defender 110 remains robust, and the launch of the Defender 90 will further improve Defender’s and Land Rover’s appeal,” said Rohit Suri, President and MD of Jaguar Land Rover India. “It’s the toughest and most capable Land Rover ever manufactured, combining cutting-edge connectivity with unrivalled off-road capability.”
