Austrian bike maker KTM has unveiled the 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. The company claims this is the most capable and technically advanced adventure bike it has ever produced. Genuinely one-of-a-kind, it has radar assisted cruise control, that would make it the center of attraction. Besides an overtake assist that results in a swift spurt of power while overtaking or changing lanes, the cruise control has five distance settings. A six IMU, rally mode(optional), as well as street, rain, sport and off-road riding modes are major attractions. A complete makeover has impacted the switchgear favorably.
Smartphone pairing enabling 7 inch TFT display comes with the adventure bike. Besides convenient infographics, the dashboard has a more responsive menu system. Atop a USB charging socket – enabled storage compartment is the unit. More sensitive to changes in the road surface, the next generation WP apex semi-active suspension will earn the rider kudos.
There are inputs from the IMU, too. Suspension Pro and Rally Pack are the ADV-friendly optional suspension packages on offer. In addition to a variety of suspension settings, a standard bi-directional quick-shifter comes with the packs. A multi-gifted tech pack will also be on offer.
Weight distribution-friendly light frame lends agility to the motorcycle. The front segment of the engine has been shifted while the steering head has receded 15 mm, the sub-frame extends 15 mm more, and the open lattice swing-arm has been lengthened. Seat height has been decreased by 11 mm – it can now be adjusted by 20 mm. There’s a low-lying 23 litre fuel tank, modeled after the one on KTM 890 Adventure.
The windshield can now be shifted by 55 mm. The 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is powered by a 1308 cc V-Twin motor that develops 158 bhp and 138 Nm. This engine is Euro V compliant, and is also 1.6 kg lighter.
The 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is not coming to India anytime soon. Deliveries of the bike will begin globally in March 2021.
