The new Kia Sonet has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 6.79 lakh. The compact SUV is available now in new variants and has undergone new changes. The price range of the compact SUV is in the range of Rs. 6.79 lakh and Rs. 13.25 lakh.

The main change that the 2021 Kia Sonet comes with is the new brand logo. Kia India also offers two new variants, the HTX+ and the GTX+. The HTX trim now has a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with the 7-speed DCT and the 1.5-litre diesel paired with a 6-speed AT. Some of the other features offered by Kia India are paddle shifters, a segment-first voice-assisted sunroof operation and rear window sunshades.
The HTX 7DCT and GTX+ 7DCT petrol trims and HTX AT and GTX+ AT diesel trims come with paddle shifters. However, only the top-spec HTX+ and GTX+ trims have the voice-assisted sunroof operation feature while the rear window sunshades are offered on HTX, HTX+ and GTX+ trims only.
Some other changes made by Kia on the new Sonet are the addition of existing features to lower-spec trims of the company SUV. Here are the variant-wise changes.

The company has also offered multiple drive modes and traction control safety features to the HTX 7DCT, GTX+ 7DCT and the diesel trims- HTX AT and GTX+ AT. The four-engine configurations that the 2021 Kia Sonet comes in are the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit, 1.5-litre WGT diesel unit and the 1.5-litre VGT diesel unit.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine has a maximum power of 84bhp and a peak torque of 115Nm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual as standard. On the other hand, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit produces a maximum power of 119bhp and a peak torque of 172Nm. Its engine is paired with either a 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed iMT.
Talking about the 1.5-litre diesel engine, it has come in a (WGT) Waste-Gate Turbo and a (VGT) Variable Geometry Turbo configuration. The 1.5-litre WGT has a maximum power of 99bhp and a peak torque of 240Nm. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. On the other hand, the superior VGT engine has a maximum of 114bhp and 250Nm peak torque. It is paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic as standard.
Kia India has offered a variety of updates to the compact SUV like the paddle shifters, which enables sporty driving. This has no doubt pleased the enthusiasts across the country and has made it even more appealing to the buyers.
