BMW has launched the 2021 5-Series in India, with a starting price of Rs. 62.90 lakhs (ex-showroom and introductory). The new 5 series is available in three variants; one petrol and two diesel engine options.

2021 BMW 5 Series facelift Mileage

The BMW 5 series facelift comes with a choice of 1 petrol and 2 diesel engines. The petrol delivers a mileage of 15.56 kmpl while the diesels returns a claimed 22.48 kmpl.

2021 BMW 5 Series facelift Specifications – Engine & Transmission

The 2021 BMW 5 Series facelift’s is available with a choice of three engine options – one petrol and two diesels. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine in the 530i versions delivers 252hp and 350Nm. The 520d’s diesel engine is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit that produces 190hp and 400Nm of torque, while the 530d’s diesel engine is a 3.0-litre, in-line six that produces 265hp and 620Nm of torque. All the three variants employ an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Exterior

The luxury sedan has been lengthened by 27 mm (wheelbase remains unaltered), and gets new adaptive LED headlights with L-shaped DRLs, a reworked kidney grille, restyled bumpers, new LED tail lamps, and trapezoidal exhaust finishers.

A reworked rear bumper and more strongly structured taillights, akin to those on the newest 3 Series – are also part of the facelift. Trapezoidal tailpipes are also standard on all 5 Series cars, regardless of version. The 18-inch alloy wheels are also standard across the range, with buyers having the option to upgrade to bigger wheel sizes.

Interiors

When you get inside, you’ll notice that the car’s cabin hasn’t changed much. It boasts a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and touchscreen, 4-zone automated climate control, new galvanic embellisher for controls, soft-close doors, ambient lighting, a glass roof, smartphone connectivity with wireless charging, and more.

On the petrol variant, customers can pick between synthetic Sensatec perforated trim and Dakota leather or Nappa leather upholstery, while on the diesel variant, customers can choose between Dakota leather and Nappa leather upholstery.

Rivals

The 2021 BMW 5 Series facelift rivals the likes of the Jaguar XF, Volvo S90, Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
