The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been rocking the sales charts ever since the launch of the new-gen model 8 months ago. In this time period, the MPV has accumulated 61,000 unit sales, making it the best-selling model in its segment. Now, to further expand the Ertiga’s target audience, Maruti Suzuki has launched it with a factory-fitted CNG iteration. This makes the Eritga the first MPV in India to be sold with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
The CNG models are based on the mid-level VXi trim. The Ertiga CNG is priced at Rs. 8.88 lakh, making it Rs. 71,000 more costlier than the regular petrol-driven VXi. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki has also launched the Ertiga Tour M CNG, targeted at the commercial and fleet segment, which is priced at Rs. 8.83 lakh, making it costlier by Rs. 66,000 than the comparable petrol-driven model.
Both CNG versions of the Ertiga come with a 7-seat configuration. The 10.86 kg factory-fitted CNG tank is located under the luggage bay floor. Maruti claims that the Ertiga CNG can deliver a fuel efficiency of 26.2 km/kg.
Features on offer on both CNG versions include a power steering, front and rear power windows, remote central locking, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder, rear parking sensors, coloured MID screen, and an audio system that is connected to four speakers and accepts AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. It is important to note that the Ertiga Tour M also gets a speed limiter that doesn’t allow the driver to exceed to speeds over 80 km/h.
Powering the Ertiga CNG is Suzuki’s 1.5-litre K15B, four-cylinder engine that churns out 105 hp and 138 Nm of peak torque when run on petrol. However, the CNG versions are slightly less powerful, with the outputs rated at 92 hp and 122 Nm. It is important to note that the CNG variants don’t come with Maruti’s mild-hybrid CNG variant. Also, a 5-speed manual gearbox is the only transmission option available with the CNG variants.
