India`s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki yesterday launched the 2018 Maruti Ertiga in India. The MPV is priced at Rs, 7.44 lakh for the base petrol variant and Rs. 10.90 lakh for the top-ed diesel model, all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi.
The second generation Ertiga is underpinned by the new Heartech platform which is used on a lot of new-gen Maruti cars like the Dzire, Baleno, Ignis, and the Swift. The new platform makes the car lighter than the outgoing model. On tape the new Ertiga measures 4395 mm in length, 1735 mm in width and 1690 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2740 mm. The 45 litre fuel tank will help in long journeys while a turning radius of 5.2 meters makes it a breeze to maneuver in the city. The 2018 Ertiga is available in five colors namely -: blue, red, grey, white and silver.
The major change is under the hood. The MPV is powered by Maruti`s new 1.5 litre petrol motor which currently powers the Ciaz sedan. The engine produces 105 Hp @6000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque @4,400 rpm. There is also a diesel engine on offer and this one develops 90 HP @4,400 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 1,750 rpm. Maruti has equipped both the engines with Smart Hybrid Technology for improving fuel economy. Transmission options include a 5-speed MT and a 4-speed automatic which is offered only on the petrol model.
